HARRISON TOWNSHIP/MACOMB TOWNSHIP/CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A former member of the L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education has been appointed to fill a recent vacancy.
Jeffrey Pegg will fill the spot on the board created by the resignation of Treasurer Linda McLatcher. Her last day serving on the board was July 24.
The board unanimously chose Pegg from a pool of six applicants on Aug. 7.
Pegg, who will serve until the term ends on Dec. 31, 2018, has been a resident of the district for 16 years and has two daughters attending L’Anse Creuse schools.
He has been actively involved with the district, serving on the board in 2016, the Parent Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2014, and the Building Utilization Committee for the 2013-14 school year.
“I’m truly happy to be back on the board, and I look forward to making a difference for the students in our community,” said Pegg.
“We were pleased to have such dedicated individuals apply for the position,” said board President Amelia A. Servial. “In the end, Mr. Pegg was chosen to join our team.”
Board member Hilary Dubay was chosen as the new treasurer.
Also during the meeting, the board approved the appointment of Cathy Ciolino as principal of South River Elementary, and Kelly Darlington as principal of Donald J. Yacks Elementary.
Kristin Cairo was appointed as associate principal of L’Anse Creuse Middle School-North, and Nick Ellul and Meredith Beard were hired as associate principals at L’Anse Creuse High School-North.
